Made in VR for VR

Solstice was made using an HTC Vive, Google Tilt Brush and Premiere Pro. Everything was hand painted in VR

The Process

First we started with storyboards to get the lighting, colors and world right.

Then we started painting.

Lastly, we captured our work and edited it together.

We made the world, erased parts of it and recorded it each time. We quickly realized when recording our shots were unstable. We 3D printed a controller holder for the Vive and attached it to a tripod to get stable shots. Then we had to export each of these files to render, which took upwards of 15 hours in total. Once the files were in an editable format, we imported into premiere, lined everything up with the audio and had a final piece.
